    Old Reunion/New Machine

    I think I already know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway:
    I have Reunion 5.0 on an older Mac that only runs System 9;
    I have a newer eMac running OS 10.6;
    Is there any way to update the old Reunion to a version that will run on the new eMac?

    I suspect I'm going to have to buy an all new version of Reunion for the newer eMac rather than an update. Just trying to save a buck or two, don't ya know?

    2nd question:
    I discovered while importing a Gedcom from my old Reunion into Family Tree Maker on a PC that none of the notes and references in Reunion were importable into FTM. Will they import to a new version of Reunion, or not?

    Thanks for any help. I've always loved Reunion, keep up the good work.

    Nope. You can purchase the reduced priced upgrade. See this link for details...

    Notes and references (sources) will appear just fine in Reunion 10. However, you don't use GEDCOM to accomplish this. You just "open" the old family file and it gets converted into the latest format.

    After you purchase the upgrade, you can use these instructions...

      Frank, I'm not sure I understand, but let me see if I have this right:

      I copy my old Family File (from the Mac running sys. 9) onto, say, a thumb drive;
      (applications too, or just the family file?)
      Now I plug that thumb drive to the new Mac (running 10.5);
      Next I install the Reunion Update CD that I buy from you,
      and it automatically installs the new Reunion and imports the family file?

      Is it really that simple?

        Yes it really is that simple almost...

        If you have any media linked up to your Reunion file, then you need to copy the folder that contains them along with the Family File onto a thumb drive and then onto the new Macintosh.

        You do not need to copy the Reunion application to the new Mac.

        Install the new Reunion to the new Macintosh

        You can then open your Family File and Reunion will upgrade it to the new version for you.
