I currently maintain my family tree on Tribal Pages. However I would now like to try to create my family tree using iWeb and MobileMe. I fully understand that it has certain limitations and is really intended for the novice, but in this case I believe I am that novice.

A couple of questions I have are:–1) how easy is it to make amendments? I was reading the reunion manual which said– “If you've made lots of changes, you can manually update your web project by following these steps...

Mark all of the people that you need to update. To quickly find people you've updated, choose Find -> Anything and search for "Changed Date, After, (enter the appropriate date)."
Create your web report for marked people only.
Open all of the folders and write down the numbers of each and every file. Drag that report to the trash.
Create the web project for all people.
Upload only the individual files that you wrote down in step #3.”

For a novice this appears to be a little daunting and complicated. I'm making changes to my family tree, almost on a daily basis. When I periodically need to update my tree on Tribal Pages, I simply replace the old file with the latest version. Why can't this be done with Reunion? I basically want to know is the simplest way to update the website.

Question two relates to the geographical mapping of individuals. I would like to incorporate in my website a map showing the location of particular persons on the family tree. Can someone advise me the best method for doing this and whether it is capable of being published through iWeb, or would you need to use a third-party editor, which I currently do not think I am capable of using.

At the moment, for other censuses, I do (in a Census source type):

Title: 1901 England Census
Location of Souce: RG13/4692, f.45, p.23

And in the multimedia I have a file linked to as RG13:4692:45:23

However, the raw source for the 1911 is very different. Having read some articles about it online I now at least understand the code, but am trying to work out a good, reliable, comprehensive and correct way of doing the reference.

Hi everyone,

I have just been catapulted into the 21st century by upgrading my computer from a 1997 PowerCenter Pro 210 to the kids' old G4 eMac (yes, the kids got the new, glorious 27" quad core i5 iMac) and I am trying to get my wide format Epson Stylus Photo EX printer to work with the eMac. I connected the printer's 8-pin mini DIN cable to a Keyspan USB devise. The software that came with the Keyspan (called "Keyspan Serial Assistant") does see the devise on the USB port. Then I downloaded and installed Gutenprint 5.2.4 printer drivers. The printer is listed as a supported model for Gutenprint. The installer said that the installation was successful. Next I went to the "Print & Fax" control panel to add the printer to the Printers list. I clicked the + sign to add the printer to the list, but the printer, apparently, cannot be found and doesn't come up to be selected. I have tried a number of things (turned everything off, then back on; turned Printer Sharing off, then on, etc.) but without success. Anybody have any suggestions to try? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to figure out how to search out all those people who have something written in a particular notes category. I did it once, but can't remember how to do it again. For example I want to find all those who have special notes under "Military" or "Medical." The note in question is one that I added to the default list. I found a way to do it that is cumbersome and time-consuming. I am pretty sure there is an easier way.

I have been using Reunion for about two weeks and am importing a database of about 5,000 from TMG. Due to the problems I have read about that others had using GEDCOM to import, I decided to bite the bullet, take my time, and manually import the database----plus that would give me a chance to clean up the data base as I go. Now that I have imported about 800, however, I am beginning to question my decision (and my stamina). If I did a GEDCOM now will there be conflicts with the information I have already imported such as strange duplicates or other nasty things I am unaware of?

I have never made a GEDCOM import and will have all the problems of a beginner, I am sure.

Thank you,
