Does anyone know if proceedings of Royal Navy Committees of Enquiry are available anywhere? I have a Great Uncle who drowned after falling overboard off the coast of Vancouver Island, Canada where he was serving on the ship HMS Egeria in 1910. I have his naval records from Kew and an entry leads me to believe that there was an enquiry into his death as follows: “Died 26th. May 1910. Accidentally drowned whilst on duty at Oyster Bay, Straight of Georgia B.C. NL6793 (C of Enquiry)“ Further down it states that his body was later found.

I have photographs of his grave as a very kind lady from the Comox Valley Family History Society has visited his grave and sent me photographs for which I am extremely grateful, but I just wondered whether or not it is likely that there is in existence records of the Committee of Enquiry. Or was this just a grand name for the Captain’s report?

Any help gratefully received. Thanks.
