My iPhone was the only device handy when I receive a piece of information over the phone, so I opened my Family File, and edited the Misc. Notes of the applicable person. (In actuality, the edit added a sentence to existing notes that were approximately 2 small paragraphs in length.) Knowing it was the only change made to the iPhone file, I took it to my iMac to perform a 'Get Changes from Device' sync. Following that on inspecting the Family file on the iMac, I found that all the Misc. Notes for the person were gone - the field was totally empty. Examining the iPhone, the notes were as they should be - all present including the recent edit. Luckily, I run Time Machine, and could restore the Family file on my iMac, which I did, and then attempted the operation a second time, this time ensuring Reunion was not running in the background on the iPhone, prior to attempting to sync. Same results - the Misc. Notes field of the applicable person were 'slicked.' Back to Time Machine.
Anyone else see this problem, or have any suggestion. I'm about to make a trip where I expect to gather some new new family information and will have only my iPhone with me, and now I'm very hesitant to use it in this manner. Thanks R, Jim Cole, Jacksonville FL.

Further info: It seems the problem relates to the size of the NOTES field on the iPhone. If the field on my iPhone has more text than the iPhone can display on one screen (have to scroll to see all), when EDIT is selected, the existing NOTES text disappears and all I can do is enter new text. When I select DONE, and reselect the NOTES I can see the original text as well as the text I added during the EDIT. (If I select EDIT again, I am presented again with a blank screen with the i-Beam at the top.) When I have edited a NOTEs field on the iPhone, as I've described above, then attempt a 'Get Changes from Device', the Misc. Notes field on the applicable Family card on the Mac is emptied, although the NOTES field on the iPhone contains the original text plus the appended text from the EDIT.

Addendum 2. A 'Duh' on my part, with respect to the limits of the Notes fields 'rich' formatting or being over 1,000 characters and the "append mode". That explains what I was seeing on the iPhone. I believe I've discovered the source of the corresponding notes field bring 'emptied' on the Mac Family File following a 'Get Changes from Device'. It seems to occur when a SYNC is performed with the Family File still open on the iPhone. If the Family File on the iPhone is closed first, the SYNC brings the appended note text to the Mac as it should. I've only 'proved' this twice (2 times each with the iPhone Family File open and 2 times with it closed). (Time Machine is really great but I have a good deal of hesitancy when it comes to deliberately damaging my Family File on the Mac.) If my findings are validated, perhaps LiesterPro might consider disabling the SYNC button on the iPhone whenever it has a Family File open.
