Hi---

I need some help in using the Picture Window feature in Reunion.

I can create a picture window okay and put it where I want it to be displayed on top of the family card (e.g. a family wedding picture in a blank spot in the children's area of the card); but, it disappears when I click to get back to the card to do some work.

I can bring the picture back by using the Command-J keys, but I would like to have it displayed even when I am working in the family card area and to be re-displayed with the card whenever that family card is displayed.

I cannot seem to find anything in the Help File/Manual on this.

Is it possible to do this?

Thanks in advance.

I can create a picture window okay and put it where I want it to be displayed on top of the family card (e.g. a family wedding picture in a blank spot in the children's area of the card); but, it disappears when I click to get back to the card to do some work…Is it possible to do this?In one word: "No". You can't superimpose another picture on the Family Card and have it be grouped with the Family Card—which is what I take it to be that you want to do.

The Family Card is carefully designed to provide you a logical insight into who is connected in the database to the primary person/couple in the middle (i.e., parents, children, other spouses); the fields for the person(s) on the Family Card (e.g., Facts, Events, Notes, Flags, Numbering, etc.) you have chosen to display with a specific View (of which there can be as many as you want); and, in the top-right portion of each person's data, any Preferred Picture you have linked to the person. (While that Preferred Picture could be the family wedding picture, I'd discourage even considering doing that as I'm believe the Preferred Picture will serve you far better when it's a picture of the person because of the ability to automatically include that picture in your charts and reports.) The parents and children areas of the card are dedicate to that respective information. (While you may have a "blank spot" on one Family Card at the moment, that area must be designed to accommodate a large number of children—and two types of display, button & list.)

The Multimedia pop-up menu is there to provide you direct access to all the linked Multimedia items. So my suggestion would be to link that wedding picture as a Multimedia item. (If there are two persons on the Family Card, there will be a Family tab of the Multimedia window which serves for items which apply to both people on the Family Card. If there's only one person on the Family Card, then there'll just be a tab for the one person, but you can link as many items as you want.) Although the wedding picture won't be open each time you go to that Family Card, you can easily get to display it from the Multimedia pop-up menu.

David---

Thanks for the response and information.

You were right on target regarding what I was "trying" to do.

Thanks for the help.
