I have a World War I Draft Registration Card for my grandfather. He was born in 1877 and registered in 1918. Would it be best to enter that as an event or Source. I believe the only way I could make the image of the card a part of the record would be through being a source?
Thanks

I would have thought the choice was to treat it as a fact or an event; either of these should then be supported by a source. The information gained ("In 1918 he was drafted…" etc.) is recorded as a fact or event, and the origin of this information (that card with its number, etc) is the source. Since the registration occurred on one clear date, I would favour making it an event. The other place you can put the image, if for any reason you don't want to attach it to the source, would be in the person's Multimedia, marked 'treat as document.'

I treat these documents as a source for the different info on the card, i.e. birth date, birth place (sometimes), occupation on that date, maybe correction of name or addition of middle name, residence on that date, possibly given name of wife, mother, father, brother-whoever is listed as contact... The image goes into the person's folder in my "My Family History" folder per Ben Sayer's organization plan. I don't attach images in Reunion (except, maybe, one photo of the person)...I keep them separate. However, that's your choice. If I were attaching the image, it would be under Sources multimedia.
I am reconsidering adding more photos & images to Reunion...we'll see.
