Reunion 8 won't open

when I click on Reunion icon it does not open. When I go to applications I find a Reunion folder, but not a Reunion application. When I open the folder I find both the Reunion 8 application & family file. When I click to open either of these a window opens with "Finder" icon that states " the application Reunion 8 can't be opened" with number-1712.
Help.... I'm in tears as I think of losing 4 years of work.

Error #1712 just means that the Apple Event (opening Reunion) has timed out, so it's not terribly helpful in figuring out what the problem is. But since it happens when you open the application as well as when you try opening your family file, it's likely that the data in your family file is intact and you don't need to worry about losing it.

Run the Disk Utility and see if there's a fixable problem there, if not, I'd suggest you wait until Monday when the Leister people are back at work and see if they suggest trashing a preference file or reinstalling.

Just keep your family file (and its backup) safe until then....

Thank you, Dennis.... I turned on my computer this morning. The Reunion icon was not on the dock. I did a spotlight search & found Reunion 8 application & was able to open it! I am currently burning a copy & "backing it up". What a relief.
