Sync Issue

I have 2 family files on my iMac with corresponding files on my iPod. After having performed the sync functions numerous times in the past with no issues, I have a new message today when trying to get changes from the iPod. One of the family files keeps giving the Description of "Does not belong to this family file." I have tried closing the other file, reopening each file, rebooting, etc. Anyone have any ideas? I would be most greatful! Help!!!
