Hi all.

Apologize if this is posted somewhere else but I assure you I tried looking....

I have a lot of information on Ancestry.com's family tree site. As well, I have a lot of information in Reunion. Rather than transcribe/enter info by going through every name is there a way to merge the info/data? For example, if I were to export the GEDCOM from Ancestry (I have about 570 people there) and import into Reunion (~300 people there) would Reunion just add the new names or would it overwrite the names and such I have in Reunion?

Any ideas on how best to tackle this now and in the future?

I suggest you read the topic in the manual dealing with "Match & Merge" under the section "Using Advanced Features". If you decide to use this semi-automated procedure to resolve the duplicates, be sure you make a backup copy of your Reunion file first because the process cannot be undone if something goes wrong. You might also practice with a small subset first in order to learn how this works.

Hi I imported an Ancestry gedcom to my Imac and actually found that the "match and merge" solved many of the problems generated in Ancestry. The motto of match and merge is ... if you are not sure dont" !!!!
