If I take a copy of my Reunion 8 on a laptop when visiting relations, how do I take the images I've selected to go with some of the cards?

Maybe I am dense, but your question is a tad muddled. Perhaps you can elaborate on precisely what you are trying to accomplish.
Questions:
1) Do you mean: taking photos along the way?
2) Or, What program to use when showing off your hard won collection of images?
3) Or, should you use Reunion as the primary method of displaying your images?
With a clearer idea of what your needs are, myself and others will be able to chime in with answers.

If you store the images in the same folder as your Reunion 8 data file, then you can just take the whole folder containing the data file and the images along on the laptop and the images should open just fine when required.
Remember when you get back to copy the whole lot back to your main computer so that you don't lose any changes you've made while away.
