In Reunion 8, cutting and pasting formatted text from an external source caused the format (including colored backgrounds) to be lost and the paste produced clean plain text. Reunion 9 seems to try to retain some of the formatting (including colored backgrounds) and generally produces a mess. is there a way to restrict the paste to plain text or to edit the text to generate simple plain text with no backgrounds, etc. The P button does not suffice.

Interesting! Looks like Reunion can store a lot more attributes than are selectable through the interface.
What you need is a Paste Unformatted but Reunion doesn't have that (suggest you post it to the wish list forum). Or maybe it shouldn't be pasting such rich data...
So you'll need to take the text through an application which does support paste unformatted. TextWrangler, Word, and TextEdit are 3 which come to mind. The steps would then be:
1. Copy text
2. Paste as unformatted into selected app (just paste in TextWrangler)
3. Copy text from selected app
4. Paste into Reunion
Just ask if you need further help.
Another option is to have a small AppleScript which converts the clipboard for you. The set up would take 1-10 mins depending how comfortable configuring the computer you are. The steps would then be:
1. Copy text
2. Select 'Convert Clipboard to Unformatted' from the menubar
3. Paste into Reunion
Again, just ask and I can write some more instructions. The AppleScript is at macosxhints and I'd choose the Script Menu approach.

:o Haven't read the manual on text formatting, but are there any other hidden gems?
