The Match and Merge function did not get any better after this upgrade. When I try to match 1 person with "everybody" in my 30000 people database, the program halts, I even have to pull the plug of my 450 MHZ G4, 896 MB SDRAM, OS 10.4.8 Why is it so difficult to compare only 1 persons data with 30000 others?

Be careful if you merge someone (once you can get to that point). I've had parent-to-child links disappear after a merge. I can reproduce this consistently in a test database (4 people).

Looks like a bug. After a couple of tries I found a person where the progress bar would get to 75% and then stop.
I'll send it to Leister.
You should never have to pull the plug though! That's asking for corruption of your whole machine. In this case I was able to quit Reunion (from the Dock), but even if that hadn't worked a force-quit should have been all that was necessary.

Thanks, Tim, for this force-quit advice. Did not know that it was possible. Mac-Newbie

It might be a problem of having so many ppl with the same last name and similar first names.
I have had the same problem. I merged 3 gedcom files, from three different ppl (database 2000 ppl). The m&m worked when comparing exact F&L names. But when I try to m&m exact last name with similar first name, the merge gets stuck (@50%). The stop button doesn't work and i have to quit Reunion. When I narrow the search to individuals instead of the database the m&m for exact last name and similar first name works fine.
Thank you,
Gary

I am still having various problems with "Match and Merge." The most serious is when Reunion takes a totally unrelated line and attaches it to the individuals I am trying to merge.
In addition, sometimes the merge function freezes the program, which necessitates a force quit.
Fortunately, I back up my file every time I attempt a "match and merge," which I highly recommend for anyone attempting this function. In the meantime, I am not using this procedure.
Question: Are there still problems with "match and merge" which were not addressed in 9.0.2?
