Events memo field truncates

I enter the transcript for the census in the memo field of the census event for each person, this is pre-formatted and exported to TNG.
Now when I do this the memo field is truncated. However if I enter the data then double click the event and paste the memo into that memo box it is not truncated. This is a different behaviour to v8. Is it intentional or a bug?

Hmmm I see that too on my Census Events.

And I'm wondering if an increase in the limit of that memo field past 1000 characters would be useful for those of us who put Census transcripts into the Event Memo field. 2000 characters or 4000 characters perhaps?
