MacBook Pro type size

I am just beginning a move from my old PowerBook G3 under 9.2 to a MacBook Pro. With the sample family cards on screen, the first difference I notice is that the screen type seems awfully small. Is there any way to make it bigger?

System Preferences (in applications->Utilities) then Appearance.

Individual apps will also have their own size adjustments in their preferences file.
