When I link to a picture it scrambles part of the name. Instead of my name of OSP123 Charles A Smith I end up with OSP123 Charles A #5AE44. I remove link and try again and get the exact same OSP123 Charles A #5AE44. Is it me or is it Reunion and can anything be done about it? Thank you.

This is a limit within Reunion that it can only handle file names with up to 32 characters - the same applies to other software - the one I most often see it in is MS Word and Excel - the v.X version.

Figured there was a simple answer someplace. Did some checking and it appears that the ".jpg" is part of the countable 32 characters.
Off to rename some pictures. Thanks much.

No permanent damage is being done by this - the actual file name is still retained and visible to any software (like the Finder for example) that properly see file names longer than 32 (or is it 31?) characters.

Maybe a future version of Reunion won't have this limitation and will see longer file names with no problems :-))

Reunion 8 is a Carbon application, made to run on both Classic and OS X environments. The 32 character file name limitation is true of all Carbon applications.

The next version of Reunion will not have this limitation.

Good information. I'm just now, having finally gotten a capable machine, playing with adding multimedia items and it will take a bit to figure out how I want to set up picture files etc. All my people pictures have a preceeding 3 letter and 3 number code and then the person's full name. That would be good info to keep as it will tie back to all my master picture archives on my other machine. Have many gravestone pictures and census images etc etc that I need to starting naming, and losing the 32 character limitation will help me more easily keep track of what goes where.
Now if we were to hear of the imminent release of the next version............
Waiting patiently here.
Thanks Gregg
