Problems copying to CD

I was trying to copy my Reunion file to disk for back up, but the new file on the disk was totally unrecognizable by any program I have on my computer--including Reunion. (It's icon suggested it might be a Terminal document, but Terminal didn't open it either.) I just grabbed the icon of the file and placed it on the CD.

The file on the CD probably lost its type and creator codes. See this page (http://www.leisterpro.com/doc/version8/questions/answers/upgradeproblems.php).
