How can I separate one family line

I want to send one family line out to send to another Mac user (assuming I can get him to buy Reunion). How would I do this?

You can use the marking capability in Reunion to do this. Depends on what you want the boundaries of your "family line" to be. Do you just want direct descendants (and wives) of an ancestor? Or do you want all blood relatives of a given person? or your direct ancestors up a given line?

I would use MARK to mark all blood relatives of an ancestor (unmarking everyone first). Then I would export a GEDCOM file of the marked people and email that to him. He should be able to load that into any genealogy program - not just Reunion.

Don has covered one key part, how to select the folks you want.

If you can talk your friend into buying Reunion, there is a cool and much better way to share Reunion family files. You can both Import and Export to/from Reunion files. You can even import or export only "marked" people in the source file. This is much, much better than using a GEDCOM file to do the transfers.
