    Sending a file to Germany

I want to send my mothers file from 1550 to Germany. I tried sending aPDF but they could not open it. Any suggestions as to what might work?

Are they on a Mac, a PC or using some kind of tablet other than Apple? If not Apple, it could be that they do not have Acrobat Reader installed. Another possibility is that they are trying to open it within their browser and the browser is not set up to accomplish that (which might also be the missing Acrobat situation).

First step is to question them.....

Depending on what they want to do with the information, you might use .txt, .jpeg, .rtf, GEDCOM… or whatever else you find useful (gif's and such). I don't use PDF files, mostly because of the problems they can cause and because the folks at ADobe and what I consider their sharp business practices.
