I am having difficulty with placing some of the names of my Bulgarian ancestors. First, traditionally, when a person made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem they added the prefix “Haji” to their surname but the case I have currently the ancestor was Vulcho Baanov. He dropped the surname Baanov and added Haji to Velcho to make Hajivelchev. I know I can add notes to describe what happened but how do I handle that in the name block?
Secondly, one brother, Petur Baanov, became a Bulgarian Orthodox monk and saint, Father Paisii Hilendarski or, in English, Father Paisius of Hilendar. The other brother, Lazar, also became a monk at the monastery at Hilendar and he took the name Lavrenti or Laurentius.
I would like to somehow have this show in a descendant chart. What would be the most proper way to show this information? parenthesis (…), ne, ne: ??? Help please!??
